The Pains of Making a Rubric

If there's one thing that I wish never existed in the teaching world, it would have to be the rubrics. Back in my elementary years, I never saw my teachers use a rubric when they grade our projects.Which now makes me wonder, how in the world did they grade my projects back then??

But of course, I know that we can never get rid of rubrics for a plethora of reasons. And this fact makes me sad even more.

I know that there are many sites out there that offer free rubrics for just about anything. But never in my short teaching career have I completely lifted off a rubric from the internet. There are always some modifications and tweakings  here and there to suit the activities. Most of the time, I get ideas from many sources from the the net which leads to more confusion as to what criteria I want to include because there's just so many and that eventually leads to brain malfunction and to hysteria. Now I envy my elementary school teachers. They're probably saner than me.

Oh rubric fairy, please sprinkle me with some of your magical rubric dust.

P.S.
Is it rubric or rubrics  if it's singular? What I know is it's rubric for singular, then rubrics for plural. But there are teachers in our school that use rubrics for singular (ex. Rubrics for Book Report) Now I'm more confused. Ahhhh it will never end!
